We give money to producer businesses…
But shouldn’t businesses make their own money?
Let’s start with the obvious:
Businesses need to make a profit, that’s the definition of a successful business.
But if profit becomes the only priority then you end up with what we’ve already got…
A system fuelled by mass exploitation and environmental destruction - where the rich get richer at the expense of millions of producers around the world.
We believe that the trade should be transformed.
So we give money to producer businesses who do things differently. Even a small grant can help level the playing field - helping producers around the world to get a fair deal for their hard work.
We invest when no one else would
Enterprises that pay fairly and protect the planet aren’t attractive to investors because they share profits and spend on social good.
They don’t return huge profits to shareholders - they do far more important things. They’re often on a relatively small scale and operating in isolation - which makes investment almost impossible to raise.
That’s where we come in.
Because the return we seek isn’t financial
As a charity we want to make the world a better place long term - and that’s what producer businesses do so well.
We want to see producers earning more and investing that back in the community in sustainable ways.
We want to see people feeding their families and educating their children. We want futures changed and outlooks brightened. This is the return that producer businesses give us.
A better way of doing business
Trade should benefit everybody - not just the super rich.
To transform the trade system, we need to support those who do things differently - those who pay fairly and protect the planet we all rely on.
So we give grants to producer businesses and collectives to level the playing field - to protect and grow their positive influence on the world.
